Production-ready AI copilots for any app — prebuilt UI, tools, and a runtime that takes real action.
Alternative to LangChain and Vercel AI SDK and CopilotKit

Developer tools are what you use to write, review, host, and watch software. This shortlist includes Cursor, GitHub Copilot, GitHub, GitLab, Docker, Postman, Datadog, Sentry, and cloud hosts. It is broader than the AI agent list. Coding agents appear here when the job is a repository, not a business workflow.
Developer tools are software used to build and operate applications: editors, source control, CI and hosting, API clients, databases, and observability. AI coding assistants sit on top of the editor. They do not replace git, logs, or a production host. This page is a buying shortlist, not a complete toolchain.
This shortlist includes Copilot SDK (YourGPT), Vercel AI SDK, CopilotKit, Cursor, Aider Chat, Amazon Q, and 37 more.
We include widely used engineering products that have a catalog profile. Design tools, general chat LLMs, and business trackers stay on their own lists.

Standardize the repo and the editor first. Add an AI assistant second. Add observability before you add more AI.
| If this is the job | Look at |
|---|---|
| AI in the editor | Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cody, Continue, Tabnine, or Amazon Q. Test on your private repo, not a demo. |
| Source of truth | GitHub or GitLab (Bitbucket if you are already there). Do not split issues across two forges without a rule. |
| Runtime and data | The cloud you already know, plus Docker, and a database you can snapshot (Neon, Supabase, PlanetScale). |
| When production breaks | Sentry, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus. An assistant cannot replace an error tracker. |

A git host (GitHub or GitLab), an editor with an AI assistant if you want one, a host for previews, and an error tracker. Add a project tracker such as Linear from the business-tools list. Do not start with five AI agents and no source control.
They solve the same job in different shells. Cursor is an editor built around the assistant. Copilot sits inside VS Code, JetBrains, and GitHub. Test both on your repo, your language, and your policy for sending code to a model. Price and context windows change often.
Sentry is usually the first error tracker. Datadog is a broader observability suite (metrics, logs, traces, infra). Small teams often start with Sentry plus host metrics. Add Datadog or Grafana when you cannot answer “what changed?” from errors alone.
Aider, Devin, OpenHands, and similar tools try to take a ticket and open a pull request. Treat them as extra developers with a tight allowlist, not as a replacement for review. They also appear on the AI agents list.
Read the retention and training toggle, use SSO, and block secrets with a scanner such as Snyk or a git hook. Prefer products that support a no-training enterprise term if that is a requirement. Local assistants still need a policy for pasted logs.
