Best health and wellness tools
Health and wellness tools on Bookmarkit are consumer apps for activity, sleep, nutrition, meditation, and telehealth access. This list includes Apple Health, Whoop, Strava, Headspace, Calm, MyFitnessPal, and Zocdoc. It is not medical advice and it is not a hospital IT list. Use it to compare products, then talk to a clinician for care decisions.
What are health and wellness tools?
On this page, health and wellness tools are consumer apps that track activity, recovery, food, or mood, or that help you book care. Wearable companions (Whoop, Oura, Fitbit) read a sensor. Training apps (Strava, Peloton, Nike Run Club) log workouts. Meditation and therapy apps are a separate job. Telehealth and booking products (Teladoc, Zocdoc) are access layers, not a diagnosis.
This shortlist includes Apple Health, BetterHelp, Calm, ClassPass, Cronometer, Fitbit, and 14 more.
Who this shortlist is for
- People comparing a wearable ecosystem and a training log
- Teams building a benefits stack (not a substitute for a benefits consultant)
- Anyone who wants structured profiles instead of affiliate “best of wellness” posts
How we picked
We include widely used consumer health apps that have a catalog profile. We do not evaluate clinical efficacy. Device-only hardware without software is out of scope.
- Primary job is consumer health, fitness, sleep, nutrition, or care access
- Has a software product we can profile
- Not marketed here as treatment or diagnosis
- Distinct from a generic notes or habit app with no health data model

How to choose a wellness app
Pick the data you care about (training, sleep, food, mind) and whether you already own a wearable. Then check export. An app that traps your history is a weak buy.
| If this is the job | Look at |
|---|---|
| Training log | Strava, Peloton, or Nike Run Club. Confirm sport coverage and privacy of maps. |
| Recovery and wearables | Whoop, Oura, Fitbit, or Apple Health as the aggregator. Check subscription plus hardware cost. |
| Food tracking | MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, or WW. Accuracy depends on how you log, not the brand. |
| Care access | Zocdoc, Teladoc, or a therapy app. Insurance acceptance matters more than the UI. |

Frequently asked questions
Are these health apps medical advice?
No. Bookmarkit profiles consumer software. Wearables and food logs are not a diagnosis. For symptoms, medication, or mental health treatment, use a licensed clinician. Telehealth apps are a way to reach care, not a replacement for emergency services.
Apple Health vs Google Fit: do I need both?
You need the aggregator that matches your phone. Apple Health on iPhone, Google Fit or Health Connect on Android. Wearable apps should write to that aggregator if you want one history. You rarely need both on one person.
Whoop vs Oura: how do people compare them?
Both sell a wearable plus a subscription and a recovery score. Compare sensor placement, sport modes, battery, and whether you will wear it daily. Scores are vendor-defined. They are not a lab test. Read the subscription before you buy the hardware.
What is a better meditation app, Headspace or Calm?
Both are content libraries with a subscription. Pick based on the library you will open, offline downloads, and whether you want sleep stories versus structured courses. Try the free tier for a week. The unused subscription is the expensive one.
Can I export my fitness data?
Check each vendor. Apple Health and many training apps export. Some recovery products are stingy. If you care about a multi-year history, test export before you commit. A pretty dashboard with no export is a trap.
